Martha Ankomah rejects Lil Win’s apology in GH₵5 million defamation case.

Actress Martha Ankomah has declined an apology from actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, in connection to a GH₵5 million defamation lawsuit she filed against him. The case revolves around alleged derogatory remarks made by Lil Win in a viral video earlier this year, which Ankomah claims damaged her reputation, particularly her role as a brand ambassador.

Lil Win issued a public apology via a TikTok live session, expressing regret for his actions. He acknowledged the harm caused by his statements and appealed to his fans and the public to help him seek forgiveness from Ankomah. The actor described himself as a first-time offender and pledged to avoid making defamatory statements in the future. Despite his apology and efforts to resolve the matter out of court, Ankomah’s legal team deemed the apology insufficient, citing its lack of formal acknowledgment and prominence relative to the original defamatory statements.

Ankomah initially filed the defamation suit in February 2024, demanding GH₵5 million in damages. Her suit alleges that the actor’s comments were reckless and malicious, causing harm to her reputation and career. She has requested both compensatory and aggravated damages, as well as a formal retraction and apology issued with equal prominence to the original remarks.

The Accra High Court adjourned the case to February 2025 to allow both parties additional time for negotiations. Discussions are ongoing, with the possibility of reaching an out-of-court settlement still on the table. Meanwhile, the case highlights the importance of accountability and respectful public discourse in Ghana’s entertainment industry   .
