Aaron Etherington, Indiana College Basketball Star Unexpectedly Passes Away

Aaron Etherington, a basketball talent who played for Hamilton Southeastern prior to enrolling at the University of Indianapolis and St. Francis University of Fort Wayne, has unfortunately died.

Etherington, 25, of Noblesville, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 13, 2025, as verified by an obituary from Hartley Funeral Homes. No explanation for the death was given.

Aaron was the brother of Austin and Alex Etherington, both of whom played college basketball in the state. Austin participated at Indiana and Butler, whereas Alex took part at Indiana State and Indianapolis.

Conversely, Aaron started displaying his athletic talents at Hamilton Southeastern. He secured a position on the 2018 IndyStar Boys Basketball Superteam by averaging 13 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.8 assists each game in his senior year.

Etherington scored 18 points and grabbed four rebounds in the sectional championship game against leading team Carmel.

Etherington was ranked as the 9th top recruit from Indiana by PrepHoops.

St. Francis University was among the first to provide an official statement regarding Aaron’s death.

“We are heartbroken to hear of the passing of Aaron Etherington. Aaron was a great friend, teammate, and person. He will be missed by so many,” they wrote.
