Water crisis: James Gunu assures provision of poly tanks in Volta Region.

The Volta regional minister, James Gunu, has assured residents in the Volta Region that he will provide polytanks to affected areas of residence to temporarily solve the ongoing issue of water crisis in the region.

According to him, the installation of polytanks across municipalities, which began during the COVID-19 pandemic, will continue, noting that polytanks will be provided in areas where they are currently unavailable and the existing polytanks will also be filled to ensure individuals within the capital have access to water.

In an interview with Joy News on Thursday, February 6, James Gunu assured residents in the Volta Region that by Saturday, February 8, water will be flowing within the capital as assured by the Ghana Water Company Limited.

He further assured that plans are underway to mobilize stakeholders to conduct an assessment of the water crisis situation in the regional capital and other district capitals within the region to tackle the water crisis holistically.

“We are planning to have a regional water dialogue, where we will bring all the stakeholders and industry players together and diagnose the water situation within the capital and other areas like Agbozume, Akatsi, Hohoe, Kpando, and other district capitals within the region,” he said.

The regional minister promised that work will be done in the shortest possible time to utilize the Volta Lake and also drill new boreholes to provide treated water for the residents.
