Military Vehicle Crushes Man to Death at Bazua As Gunmen Open Fire On Bus Under Escort

A bus under military escort, carrying passengers from Bawku towards Bolgatanga has been attacked by unknown gunmen at Bazua in the Binduri district of the Upper East Region, Monday afternoon.  

The assailants are said to have laid in waiting and ambushed the bus.

This website can report that the commotion that followed the attack resulted in the death of one man who was allegedly crushed by a speeding military patrol vehicle, reported to have been rushing to Bazua town from the nearby military base following the attack.

The man said to own a shop in Bazua town was fleeing to safety on his motorcycle as people ran helter-skelter following the shooting when he was accidentally knocked down by the military vehicle which was coming at top speed, a resident said.

At least five persons have also been reported injured from the attack on the bus, some in critical condition and receiving treatment at the Bolgatanga hospital.

There are reports about the death of one person from the attack, but it is unclear to xtrememediaonline.com if this is the same person killed in the collision with the military vehicle.

This incident follows the killing of a woman and her two young daughters in the early hours of Sunday in the Tensungo suburb of Bawku.

Tension is said to be heightening once again in the volatile Upper East Region town following these latest attacks.
