Pe Detundini Adiali Ayagitam III Elected Council of State Member for Upper East Region

Pe Detundini Adiali Ayagitam III, Paramount Chief of the Chiana Traditional Area and President of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs has been elected Council of State member for the Upper East Region.

In the election held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, he polled 18 out of 30 valid votes cast to beat his closest contender, Thomas Moore, who polled just 5 votes.

In all, 7 contenders were vying for the slot in the Region. They included the Paramount Chief of the Navrongo Traditional Area, Pe Dennis Balinia Addah, and Executive Secretary of the Northern Patriots in Research and Advocacy (NORPRA), Bismark Adongo Ayorogo.

Speaking after his victory, Pe Detundini Adiali Ayagitam III promised to present the concerns of the people of the Upper East Region to the Council of State.

“When I met every delegate (during the campaign), what they expressed their views about, I will make sure I am unable to counsel the president about it to ensure that the Upper East Region also gets its share of the national cake”, he said.

The Council of State in Ghana is a body of prominent citizens who advise the President on matters of national importance. It was established under Chapter Nine of the 1992 Constitution.
