KNUST begins investigations into death of student

The management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has begun investigations into the death of one student identified as Ms. Joana Deladem Yabani.

In a release on Thursday, February 27, the management stated that it is collaborating with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), KNUST Internal Security, and the University Health Services to reveal the cause of Ms. Yabani’s death.

“A comprehensive investigation is underway in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Department, KNUST Internal Security, and the University Health Services to determine the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident.”

A fourth-year student of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Joanna Dellarden Yabani, was found dead near the university’s Disability and Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

The lifeless body of the Bachelor of Science in Biology Sciences student was discovered at approximately 5:00 AM, prompting a response from KNUST security services.

The body was transported to the University Health Services, where she was confirmed dead. The university has since informed Joanna’s family of the tragic incident.

The circumstances surrounding Joanna’s death are still unclear, but an investigation is underway, with KNUST’s Internal Security collaborating with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the University Health Services.
