“As a Christian, I hold the principles and values that only two genders exist: man and woman.” – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has maintained that he holds the principle and values as a Christian that only two genders exist: a man and a woman, emphasizing his reason for advocating for a government-sponsored Proper Families and Values Bill, preferring this approach over a privately-sponsored bill.
“I, as a Christian, hold the principles and the values that only two genders exist, man and woman. And that marriage is between a man and a woman,” he emphasized.
Addressing the clergy when he joined them to worship in Accra today, Friday, 28 February, President Mahama stated that he has requested Speaker Alban Bagbin to ensure the renewal of the expired Proper Families and Values Bill is introduced as a government bill rather than a private member’s motion.
“I have spoken with the speaker so that a renewal of the expired Proper Families and Values Bill should be a bill that is introduced by the government rather than as a private member’s motion. It is my hope that consultations will see a renewed Proper Families and Values Bill.”
