Ntim Fordjuor gives us no option than to arrest him – Deputy Director, NACOC

The Deputy Director of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), Alexander Twum Barimah, has asserted that the way the member of parliament for Assin South Constituency, John Ntim Fordjuor, has chosen to address the issues of drug trafficking leaves the ruling government no option but to arrest him.

According to him, the appropriate way this should have been done was for Ntim Fordjuor to inform the right institutions, like the National Security, who could investigate the issue and arrest the individuals involved, rather than telling the public.

In an interview with JoyNews on Tuesday, April 8, Mr. Twum Barimah emphasized that Ntim Fordjuor’s choice of communicating straightforwardly to the public about the aircrafts that were suspected to have transported illegal substances only hints to the individuals involved to flee rather than getting them arrested.

“Do you think those people that you are alleging that they did that are still sitting or sleeping in their rooms waiting for us to come and arrest them based on this noise that you keep making?” he questioned.

He noted that Ntim Fordjuor’s claim that an NDC candidate owns 150 million dollars out of the 350 million dollar estimated cocaine price is baseless because he has failed to provide evidence or the name of the candidate, for which he could be arrested.

“All NDC Parliamentary candidates have names. Who is that candidate? Where is he? Which constituency did he or she contest? Why can’t he tell us this? That’s why I’m saying that he will leave us with no option than to arrest him.”

Mr. Twum Barimah advised that these issues are matters of national security, and so Mr. Ntim Fordjuor should find appropriate ways to approach them, noting that he should cooperate with these institutions if he really wants the issue to be solved.

“I will advise my good friend and brother that he should cooperate with us if he really wants us to get to the root of this matter, to apprehend or arrest any other person that is involved in his so-called suspicious act.”
