Man Killed and Burned in Binduri

A chilling incident unfolded on Sunday afternoon in the Binduri district of the Upper East Region, where a 32-year-old man, identified as Salifu Majeed, was reportedly killed and his body burned alongside his motorcycle.

The incident raised concerns about its possible connection to the ongoing chieftaincy conflict in neighboring Bawku.

Preliminary reports suggest that Majeed may have been ambushed, although the exact circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.

Eyewitnesses indicated that the victim was shot before being dragged into nearby dry grasses, where his body and motorcycle were set ablaze.

A photograph circulating on social media appears to show a suspected assailant standing nearby, his shadow in the photo revealing what seems to be a rifle in his possession.

This tragic event occurred less than 24 hours after the Inspector General of Police, COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, concluded a visit to the region.

His visit followed recent tensions that erupted between law enforcement and some Kusasi youth in Bawku, resulting in the death of one individual last Wednesday.

Police have not yet commented on this latest incident, and the community is left in shock as they grapple with the implications of the ongoing violence.

The Binduri area, which borders Bawku, has seen an increase in unrest related to the chieftaincy dispute, further exacerbating fears among residents.
