Several homes were ransacked by the soldiers who are believed to have carried out the act, in retaliation for the murder of their colleague.

In an attempt to calm nerves, the Kusaug Traditional Council issued a press release on Tuesday evening, condemning the killing of the military officer. This, however, was not enough to appease the men in uniform, who, a few hours later, stormed the homes of residents in Rambo style.
