BONABOTO Condemns Attacks On Innocent Individuals Calls On President Akufo-Addo To Intervene In Bawku Conflict

The leadership of the Association of some four major towns: Bolgatanga, Telensi-Nabdam, Bongo, and Tongo districts of the Upper East Region, popularly known as BONABOTO, has called on President Akufo-Addo to swiftly intervene in the renewed conflict of Bawku which has so far claimed about 21 lives.
In a press release dated 5th November (4th November 2024), the association expressed its firm position against the warring factions blocking roads to attack travelers purported to be opponents.
“We take note and reiterate our condemnation of the unfortunate incidents of roadblocks on sections of the Bolgatanga-Tamale road around Walewale area and sections of the Bolgatanga-Bawku road to attack and kill unsuspecting travelers and in some cases setting vehicles ablaze”
They added that “such indiscriminate killings have no space in the 21st century”
According to BONABOTO, it saddens their hearts that this renewed clash has come to smear the peace that the people of Bawku were beginning to enjoy.
They called on the president, security services, and all stakeholders to work around the clock to ensure long-lasting peace in Bawku.
Meanwhile in a related development, the regional house of Chiefs in collaboration with the Youth leaders and queen mothers of the Upper East Region had made similar calls for peace to reign Bawku
