Club’s New Head Coach Announced: Ruben Amorim Takes Helm at Manchester United

Manchester United has officially appointed Ruben Amorim as their new head coach. The 39-year-old Portuguese manager will make the move from Sporting Lisbon to Old Trafford on 11 November, signing a contract that extends until June 2027.
This appointment follows the recent sacking of Erik ten Hag, with former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy stepping in on an interim basis. Van Nistelrooy will remain in charge for the club’s next three fixtures.
Amorim is now the sixth permanent manager to take the reins at United since Sir Alex Ferguson’s legendary 26-year tenure ended with his retirement in 2013.
In their announcement, the club praised Amorim as “one of the most exciting and highly rated young coaches in European football.”
Earlier in the week, Sporting Lisbon revealed that Manchester United agreed to pay 10 million euros (£8.3 million) to trigger Amorim’s release clause.
His first game in charge will be against newly promoted Ipswich Town on 24 November, following the international break. Amorim’s debut at Old Trafford will be in the Europa League against Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt on 28 November, with a Premier League match against Everton set for the following weekend.
The appointment marks a new chapter for United as they aim to return to their former glory under Amorim’s guidance.
