Data From The Bank Of Ghana Indicates That Ghana’s Economy Is Decisively On The Road To Recovery, According To President Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo urged Ghanaians to collaborate with the government in order to foster a stable, inclusive, and prosperous economy.
He made this statement on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, during the inauguration of The Bank Square, the impressive new headquarters of the Bank of Ghana, situated in central Accra.
He emphasized that this architectural marvel is more than merely a structure; it serves as a symbol of Ghana’s financial strength, resilience, and aspirations for a sustainable future.
Equipped with eco-friendly technologies and innovative designs, it represents modern Ghana, ready to address the challenges of a dynamic global economy, according to Mr. Akufo-Addo.
The President remarked, “The Bank Square signifies the remarkable advancements our nation has made. Recent statistics from the Bank of Ghana indicate that Ghana’s economy is on a solid recovery trajectory. A provisional GDP growth of 6.9% in the second quarter of 2024, alongside a strong non-oil growth of 7.0%, underscores the robustness of our agriculture, industry, and services sectors.
“Inflation has significantly decreased from 54.1% in 2022 to 22.1% as of October 2024, providing relief to families and businesses. These accomplishments are further supported by a trade surplus of $2.78 billion and international reserves of $7.5 billion, which offer a strong defense against external shocks.”
He continued, “This achievement reflects the Bank of Ghana’s dedication to sound monetary policies under Governor Ernest Addison and his committed team. I commend their efforts, along with the creativity and expertise of the architects, engineers, and contractors—especially GoldKey Properties, a fully Ghanaian firm—that brought this vision to fruition. Together, we are laying the groundwork for a resilient economy, inclusive growth, and a brighter future for all Ghanaians.”
“As we celebrate this milestone, I urge everyone to keep working together to create a stable, inclusive, and prosperous economy.
“The Bank Square is not only a representation of our achievements; it also inspires us for what is to come. Let us stay united in our mission to make Ghana great and strong!” he stated.
