Diddy’s Lawyers Request Bail Once More, Citing Precedents of Defendants Being Released in Similar Cases

Diddy is once again requesting to be released from jail while awaiting his trial, filing a new motion for bail on Friday. His legal team argues that other defendants facing similar charges were granted bail, citing these cases as precedents.
In documents obtained, Diddy’s attorneys are offering a substantial bail package, including a $50 million bond and 24/7 surveillance to prevent him from fleeing the country or attempting to intimidate witnesses. This new motion is a reiteration of the argument they made in September, when two previous requests for bail were denied. However, this time, they highlight other cases where defendants charged with similar offenses were allowed bail before trial.
One example they reference is a case involving a CEO accused of sex trafficking young men, along with an accomplice charged with witness intimidation. In that instance, the government sought a $10 million bond for the CEO and a $500K bond for the accomplice—both amounts much lower than the $50 million bail Diddy is offering. Despite this, Diddy remains in custody at MDC Brooklyn after multiple bail requests were denied, with a judge ruling that the government has shown Diddy is a “danger.”
Diddy faces federal charges including racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution. His trial is currently set for next May.
