Election 2024: Nana Ohene Ntow warns Ghana would have faced disaster if NPP had won.

Nana Ohene Ntow, Senior Advisor to Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change, has warned that Ghana would have faced catastrophic consequences if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had emerged victorious in the recent elections.
In an interview, he criticized the NPP for its poor governance, citing rampant corruption, economic mismanagement, and the degradation of natural resources due to illegal mining (galamsey) as significant issues plaguing the nation.
Ntow asserted that the NPP’s continued leadership would have led to further deterioration of Ghana’s socio-economic landscape, stating, “If the NPP had won this election, Ghana was finished.” He emphasized that the recent electoral defeat reflects widespread dissatisfaction with the NPP administration and a strong desire for change among Ghanaians.
The December 7 elections resulted in a decisive victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), with John Dramani Mahama receiving 56.55% of the votes against Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP, who garnered 41.61%. Ntow described this outcome as a pivotal moment for Ghana, underscoring the electorate’s rejection of the status quo and their call for accountability and effective governance.
While acknowledging that immediate changes may not be transformative, he views this election as a crucial step towards reshaping Ghana’s political future and restoring hope for its citizens.
