Finance Minister Announces 51.3 Million Cedis Fund for Women’s Development Bank

The Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has announced a significant 51.3 million cedis seed fund for the establishment of the Women’s Development Bank.

This initiative aims to boost women’s entrepreneurship to support the macroeconomy.

Presenting the 2025 Budget and Economic Policy Statement in parliament on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, Dr. Forson emphasized the importance of empowering women economically.

“Mr. Speaker, we have also allocated GH¢51.3 million as seed fund for the establishment of the Women’s Development Bank,” he said.

The Women’s Development Bank was a key campaign promise by the NDC during the 2024 election.

The bank promises to provide incentives to women, offering loans with little to no interest. This move is expected to create competitiveness in the market and give women the economic push they need.
