FWSC urges CLOGSAG to Call off the Scheduled Strike

The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has urged the Civil and Local Governance Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) to reconsider its plan to initiate a strike on November 7, 2024.

CLOGSAG, which represents civil and local government employees, announced the strike due to dissatisfaction with the government’s delays in implementing a long-negotiated salary structure.

On November 4, CLOGSAG pointed out that the government’s failure to carry out the agreed-upon salary adjustments—established in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) more than a year and a half ago—has forced its members to take action.

In response, the FWSC is encouraging CLOGSAG to suspend the strike and return to negotiations, highlighting the government’s dedication to addressing the salary issue.

The statement emphasized the government’s readiness to work with CLOGSAG to reach a sustainable resolution to their demands while respecting the principles of the Single Spine Pay Policy. The FWSC urged CLOGSAG to withdraw its strike decision and come back to the negotiating table for a swift resolution of their concerns.
