Ghana’s Democracy Is Too Valuable To Be Hindered By Divisive Political Altercation – Prof. Agyeman Duah to Parliamentarians.

Former United Nations Senior Governance Advisor, Prof. Baffour Agyeman Duah has called on the members of parliament to put aside their parties’ interest and work together for the interest of the country.

Speaking on ‘newsfile’ a weekend political program on joynews, on Saturday, 9thNovember, 2024, the renowned Professor said that the interest of Ghana and its democracy should be held in esteem above the interest of members of parliament and that of their political parties.

According to him, the Members of Parliament should adopt a better approach to resolve the current troubles facing the house, urging that “the interest of the nation should always be prioritized above partisan or parochial interest, the current happenings does not serve the interest of the citizens who voted for the MPs to represent them in parliament.

He went on to say that the troubling situation in Parliament is pulling back the democratic progress of the country as it undermines the integrity of parliament and also affects public trust in the legislature.

He added that Ghana could lose its reputation as the beacon of democracy in Africa if the current situation in parliament is not properly resolved.

Prof. Agyeman Duah ended by calling on the members of parliament to find amicable ways of resolving the stand-off as it has the tendency of affecting the stability of the nation.
