Isaac Adongo Appointed to Bank of Ghana Board

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, as a governing board member of the Bank of Ghana.

A statement released by the Presidency Communications on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 indicated that the appointment was made in consultation with the Council of State, and aligns with Article 70(1)(d)(iii) of the Constitution of Ghana and the Bank of Ghana Act, 2002 (Act 612) as amended by the Bank of Ghana (Amendment) Act, 2016 (Act 918).

Isaac Adongo, who represents the Bolgatanga Central Constituency of the Upper East Region on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), previously served as the Ranking Member for the Finance Committee of Parliament.

Known for his representation of the NDC in issues of economics and public finance, Adongo’s appointment addresses growing concerns among his constituents who were worried over his absence from key roles in the new NDC government.

His inclusion on the Bank of Ghana board will be seen as a strategic decision to harness his deep knowledge of fiscal policy and economic governance.

The newly constituted board is chaired by Dr. Johnson Pandit Kwesi Asiama, who serves as Governor of the Bank of Ghana. Other members include Dr. Zakari Mumuni as the 1st Deputy Governor, Thomas Nyarko Ampem representing the Ministry of Finance, and a diverse group of professionals specializing in law, finance, and technology.

Below is the statement announcing the appointments.
