Lee Mauras, Clackamas CC Wrestling Star, Fatally Shot in Portland

Former Hempstead High School wrestler Lee Mauras, who was a standout for Clackamas Community College, passed away.

At the age of just 22, Mauras of Freeport lost his life in a shooting incident in Portland, Oregon. One child is left behind by him.

Lee competed in wrestling for Hempstead High School and Freeport High School throughout his high school career. He placed first four times in Nassau County, third twice in the finals, and first for Freeport in 2019 and Hempstead in 2020.

Mauras committed to Clackamas Community College Wrestling for the current season after wrestling at Iowa Central for the 2024 campaign. He was fatally shot while getting ready to represent Clackamas in the NJCAA in Portland.

The Savage Wrestling Academy served as Mauras’ training ground.
