Mark Zuckerberg becomes third richest in the world

Mark Zuckerberg, Meta’s co-founder, is now the world’s second richest person, after Amazon chairman Jeff Bezos.

According to Forbes, the Meta owner surpassed the title following a robust week of trading for Meta shares, which have increased by over 5% this week.

Forbes stated on Friday, October 4, that the Meta co-founder’s projected net worth had increased by $3.9 billion, surpassing Bezos’ net worth of $203.9 billion

Zuckerberg is not far behind Larry Ellison ($208 billion), the second wealthiest person on the real-time billionaires list. However, he is far behind Elon Musk, the world’s richest man ($264 billion).

Zuckerberg’s net worth coincided with a more than 2% surge in Meta stock, which finished Friday at $595.94 after opening the week at $567.15.

The equities related to each of the billionaires’ principal firms closed up at least 2% on Friday, with Tesla shares leading the way with a more than 4% rise ($250.08).

Zuckerberg’s net worth reached a several milestones this week, most notably exceeding $200 billion on Thursday, making it the first time four billionaires worth $200 billion or more appeared on Forbes’ billionaire list.

The increase in net worth also facilitated Zuckerberg’s return to the No. 3 slot on the list, which he took up from LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault in August.
Zuckerberg’s net worth is based on Meta’s success, as the 40-year-old holds 345 Class A and B shares in the firm, accounting for an approximate 13% interest.

Meta shares have risen more than 68% since January, when they traded at $346.29.
