Membership Application and Branch Nomination Forms Destroyed in Suspected Arson On Talensi NDC Office

The Talensi constituency office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East Region has lost some membership application forms, branch nomination forms, and other valuable properties in a suspected arson attack that occurred at dawn on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
Aggrieved party foot soldiers allegedly set the party office on fire in protest against the nomination of John Millim Naabwomya as the District Chief Executive for Talensi.

However, the Talensi Constituency Secretary of the NDC, Augustine Guure, says he cannot substantiate these claims as police are currently investigating the fire incident.
“There were some agitations, which are usual anytime a nomination is made and it doesn’t favor some people, but we cannot categorically link it to the burning of the office because, for now, we do not know the people who did it,” Guure said.

“The police are here investigating, and hopefully we will know the people behind it and why they did what they did,” he added.

The Talensi Constituency NDC Secretary also revealed that the devastation caused by the fire was extensive.

“Chairs, ceiling fans, a street lamp, a satellite plate, all the glass windows have been burnt. (Also), some party membership registers and other relevant documents, (they) destroyed virtually everything”, he revealed.
