The Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Ali Adolf John, has announced the suspension of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company’s (NEDCO) revenue mobilization exercise, which started early this month.
According to him, the suspension of the exercise is intended to give residents sufficient time to settle their outstanding electricity bills by May.
“This is not a cancellation but a suspension to give the people of the Northern Region breathing space, especially after the Eid festivities. It is only fair that we allow them time to prepare and clear their arrears,” the regional minister explained.
Speaking after the confirmation of the Mayor of Tamale, Alhaji Adam Abu Takoro, on Monday, Mr. Ali Adolf explained that the decision was reached after extensive engagements with the management of NEDCO and the Minister for Energy, John Jinapor.

The minister, however, urged the public to desist from power theft, advising them to constantly pay their electricity bills.
“Let me be clear: illegal connections will not be entertained. I urge everyone to comply with the rules and pay their bills to avoid disconnection when the exercise resumes,” he stated.
