The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has indefinitely suspended at least 23 constituency executives in the Upper East Region due to various acts of misconduct.
The suspended individuals include six (6) constituency executives from Pusiga, sixteen (16) former and current constituency executives of Tempane, and one member from Builsa South.
The suspensions follow an “Expanded Meeting of the Regional Executive Committee,” according to Peter Ayinbisa, the Upper East Regional Communications Director of the NPP who has confirmed the decision.
Individual letters have been delivered to those affected, informing them of their suspension and directing the executives to cease presenting themselves as such, pending a full investigation by the Regional Disciplinary Committee.
Ayinbisa stated that the alleged offenses range from campaigning against constituency parliamentary candidates – leading to numerous complaints from party members, to the misappropriation of campaign funds. One individual is also accused of soliciting money in exchange for his assistance to people seeking employment.
“The Disciplinary committee will give them a hearing very soon before the final decision can be taken,” Ayinbisa added, indicating that further investigations are underway.
The regional disciplinary committee will conduct a thorough investigation before issuing final rulings.
This website has sighted a copy of the letter suspending the Pusiga Constituency Communications Officer of the NPP. It was signed by the Upper East Regional Chairman, Anthony Namoo.
