Paraguayan Fans Banned From Wearing Messi Shirts

Ahead of the crucial World Cup qualifier against Argentina, Paraguay has implemented a ban on fans wearing Lionel Messi jerseys or any apparel associated with Argentina, Barcelona, or Inter Miami.
This decision aims to foster a more supportive environment for the home team and prevent potential provocations during the match. Paraguayan officials clarified that while Messi jerseys are permitted in designated visiting sections, they are strictly prohibited in areas reserved for Paraguayan fans.
Fernando Villasboa, a licensing manager for the Paraguayan Football Association, emphasized the need for these measures to avoid “unpleasant situations,” stating that entry will be denied to fans wearing such attire.
Checkpoints will be established at stadium entrances to enforce this regulation, ensuring compliance and maintaining order during the highly anticipated match. This unusual measure reflects the intense rivalry between the two nations and highlights Paraguay’s efforts to bolster its home advantage as they seek vital points in their World Cup qualifying campaign.
