PICTURES: Controversial Nana Addo Statue in Western Region Destroyed

We are receiving reports indicating that the controversial statue of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo built in front of the Effie Nkwanta Hospital in Sekondi Takoradi of Ghana’s Western Region has been damaged by unidentified individuals.

The monument, which has sparked public debate since its installation, appears vandalized according to circulating photographs.

Same photos captured in the dark shows the statue destroyed as shared by award winning journalist and law practitioner Richard Dela Sky.

He wrote “ PHOTOS: Former President Nana Addo’s controversial statue in the Western Region appears to have been damaged (according to these photos in circulation). The identity of those responsible remains, for now, unknown.”

At the time of reporting, the unpatriotic perpetrators’ identities and motives remain unknown.

However, residents in that part of the Western Region were not pleased with the former President’s unveiling of his statue and dared to destroy it.

There were initial attacks on the statue as you could see holes, especially on the head old the artwork.
