President John Dramani Mahama has promised to build a bulk power supply point on the eastern corridor to increase the voltage received by Yendi and other communities.
During his visit to the Ndan Yaa Naa at the Gbewaa Place on Saturday, March 21, 2025, he explained that this will address the power supply challenges faced by these communities.
“I have spoken to the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, and he has agreed that we should build another bulk supply point on the Eastern Corridor so that it will raise the voltage that Yindi Bembela and Gusegu and all of you receive.”
In addition to improving power supply, President Mahama also promised to expand the Tamale water supply project, which “will increase access to clean water for the people as well as enhance irrigation for agricultural purposes.”

To ease traffic congestion, President Mahama vowed to expand the Eastern Corridor road and other road infrastructure, which is expected to improve transportation and facilitate economic growth in the region.
“We have also targeted several road projects, especially in this area. For instance, we intend to complete the Eastern Corridor road.
“There are a few patches left when you go to Nkwanta and Passa. We intend to finish it so that when you are going to Accra, you don’t need to go through Tamale and continue. You just go down and up here at Tema Runabout, and you are in Accra.”

President Mahama’s promises are part of his “Thank You Tour” in the Northern region, which aims to show appreciation to the people for their support during the election year.
The tour also seeks to strengthen citizen participation in governance, allowing community issues to be addressed directly by the president.
