Rotary International President-Elect Unveils Plan to Boost Humanitarian Efforts Worldwide

International President of the Rotary Club, a humanitarian organization, Mario Cesar Martins de Camargo has announced plans to amplify the organization’s humanitarian efforts worldwide.

Speaking to the media in Accra on 9th May, 2025, as part of his four-day visit to Ghana, Mr. Martins de Camargo stressed the importance of forging partnerships with governments and institutions to enhance their impact.

He emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to drive meaningful change and advance the organization’s humanitarian goals.

“The purpose is to bring the concept of partnership, partnership between Rotary and the government, between Rotary and public institutions like hospitals, like education centers, like environmental agencies, like microeconomic development agencies, because those are some of our areas of focus”, he noted

The Rotary Club, a 120-year-old organization, has been transforming lives and economies through humanitarian initiatives such as building schools, healthcare centers, and more.

President Mario Cesar Martins de Camargo’s visit to Ghana is to foster relationships and outline goals for the upcoming Rotary year.

He emphasized the need for the club to expand its impact across all sectors, while advocating for tolerance of ideas and encouraged Africa to prioritize peace to drive development.

“Every country has its own mindset, its own culture, it’s embedded. It’s calcified in us. And when I faced a different perspective, my first reaction was awe and frustration. This is an opposing idea. But then you grow older, you grow maturer, and you grow wiser, supposedly.

“As we grow older, we grow wiser, supposedly. We tend to look at the other perspectives with tolerance, with a good eye, with a positive input. It’s not a personal battle, personal dispute, it’s not a motive for aggression, for conflict. And that’s the reason I adopted Unite for Good”.

Mr. Camargo will tour several African countries, including Cote d’Ivoire, Tanzania, Zambia, Angola, and Mozambique. The aim is to enhance membership, understand local needs and aspirations, and consolidate efforts for the upcoming Rotary year.
