Sagnarigu MP commissions Community Water Supply Center for Sagnarigu

The Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu, Atta Issah, has commissioned a solar-powered mechanized community water supply center for the Sagnarigu Township.

The water supply center, a Qatar Charity Foundation-funded project, is expected to bring relief to residents of the municipal capital, Sagnarigu, where residents still struggle to access potable water.

The project is also expected to serve the Bagabaga Primary and Junior High Schools.

The Sagnarigu Constituency Treasurer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abdulai Imorow Gong, commissioned the project on behalf of the MP at Bagabaga in the Sagnarigu Municipality on Sunday, March 2, 2025.

Speaking on behalf of the MP, the NDC Constituency Communications Officer, Abdulai Mohammed Amin, said the water supply center will go a long way to ease the difficulty residents go through to access clean drinking water.

He recalled how residents struggled to access potable water in the past, saying that the commissioning of the project will help alleviate the suffering of residents.

“Our community has struggled for water for a long time. During the dry season, our mothers and sisters traveled several distances for good drinking water. Thank God for giving us an MP who cares about our well-being. Today, our women no longer have to travel several distances for good drinking water,” he said.

Mr. Mohammed Amin noted that the project was in fulfillment of a campaign promise made by the NDC MP, disclosing that many such projects will be spread across the constituency to help improve the water situation in the area.

He commended the Qatar Charity Foundation for the support and appealed to the organization to continue to support development initiatives in the area.

“The MP says we should greet the delegation from Qatar Charity Foundation. Words are not enough to thank them for funding this project. We continue to appeal to them to continue supporting our development projects in the constituency.”

The Sagnarigu Township has over the years struggled to have regular water supply from the Ghana Water Company, although the company’s main reservoir serving the city of Tamale is located within the area.
