Supreme Court Puts Hold on Speaker’s Decision

Until the issue is decided by the Supreme Court, the Speaker’s decision on the four seats that were declared empty has been placed on hold.The Supreme Court ordered Parliament to acknowledge the four Members of Parliament and let them to remain in office until the matter was decided on Friday, October 18.Four seats in Parliament were declared vacant by Speaker of the House Alban Bagbin on Thursday, October 17.

The following are the constituencies and the MPs going independent:
Andrew Asiamah Amoako, the currently an independent MP for the Fomena constituency in the Ashanti Region, has filed to run in the upcoming election as a candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP); Cynthia Morrison, the current NPP MP for the Agona West constituency in the Central Region, has filed to run as an independent candidate; and Kwadwo Asante, the current NPP MP for the Suhum constituency in the Eastern Region, has also filed to run as an independent candidate.
