Tamale Records One Day With Two Fire Outbreaks

The Northern Region’s capital, Tamale, saw two fires in a single day, destroying property valued at varying amounts.
On Monday, January 6, two fire occurrences were reported.
The first one was a home appliances warehouse in Zogbeli that was destroyed by the fire, which began at approximately 1000 GMT.

In the second instance, shops, wood, machinery, and other valuable equipment were destroyed when the Timber Market in Aboabo began to burn at roughly 21 hours GMT. At the two sites, Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) personnel were there and making every effort to contain the fires.
The Northern Regional Commander of GNFS, Assistant Chief Fire Officer Grade II (ACFOII), Mr. Franklin Masiku, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the Command received a distress call at 1038 hours regarding a warehouse fire and quickly responded to put out the fire. Assistant Divisional Officer Grade II (ADOll) Mr. Hudu Baba, Public Relations Officer, GNFS, Northern Region, described the Timber Market fire to the GNA.

He said the Command received a distress call about the situation late at night and responded quickly. Although it was not immediately apparent what caused the fire, GNFS staff had started looking into it.
