TTH Strike: Committee Member Calls for Minister’s Apology to TTH Doctors

A member of the health committee of parliament, Dr. Kinsely Agyemang, has advised the minister of health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, to apologize openly to the doctors at the Tamale Teaching Hospital to help calm the situation and save lives.
This advice follows the recent death of a young man, which residents allege was a result of medical negligence by a doctor, which some believe led to the dismissal of the CEO of TTH.

Speaking to Joy News on Thursday, April 24, 2025, Dr. Agyemang emphasized that when doctors feel insecure, it significantly affects their commitment to work.
“When doctors feel very insecure because of the model I’ve just described to you, the ecological model, the hospital sits in an environment. For them to have their peace of mind to be able to practice their profession as they have been trained for, an apology will serve a lot of purposes beyond the strike action.”

Meanwhile, the health minister has called for the doctors of TTH to call off their strike for a negotiation.
Dr. Agyemang, in response to this, believes that they are gradually getting to a resolution of the issue.
He is hopeful that by close of today, the Minister will come out with a clear apology, which will totally resolve the situation and save lives
